Editing a template in joomla 1.6

This bright template is suitable for weblog or personal portfolio. However, using JM Creative is not at all easy. I got confused using JM Creative. Provider : JoomlaShine. Artistic and stylish, JSN Tendo is especially designed for photographers and designers to showcase their portfolio.

Certainly I like its flexible design with 41 module positions. But I also like Sample Data which allows me to create a dummy website which looks like its demo with just few clicks. Besides, its documentation is written very carefully so I could configure and customize the template quickly.

Provider : ProWebCreative. It comes with a clean professional design - two columns: content on the right and sidebar on the left; no stunning effects and special features. This template ran fast and stable so I had no problems when testing it. To me, this is a good free template.

You can integrate this template with shopping carts part 1 , part 2 to build an e-Commerce website. As the heading implies, this template is most suited for Technology related websites. You will get a clean and neat design with Technology template. Its 18 modules are collapsible which means you can present your website in two or three or without columns. You have many choices when working with the template layout. There is no documentation but Joomlatheme provides you with an infographic that shows all module position for users.

Provider : LernVid. You will love World of Warcraft 3 if you love playing games. This is done through the Template Manager. In Joomla 1. The following screenshot shows the template edit page as it is in Joomla 1. The following screenshot shows the new page. This template style list is also where you set the default template for both the frontend site and the backend administrator.

The list is combined and you can filter on just one location if you want. A template style is like a saved set of template options and you can create as many of these styles as you want for the same template.

A simple example is a template with one option, that being for the base colour. The template might have the option to display in a red, blue or green theme. With template styles, you can create three styles, one each of the supported colours. The following screenshot shows the page where you can edit the style giving it a name and setting the template options template parameters in Joomla 1.

Now, here is the major change. You do not assign a template to a number of menu pages anymore. Rather, in the menu link edit screen, there is a new field that allows you to select which style you want to use for that particular page. The following screenshot shows you a typical edit page for a menu item.

The new template select list is show open at the bottom of the shot. This is useful is you want to check a web site design with different fonts, colors, widths or logos if these template style parameters exist. The template files are not duplicated into another uniquely-named directory and they will be overwritten during an upgrade. To preserve your changes you need to Copy the template with all its files and styles.

This procedure makes references to creating a full copy an exact duplicate of the template including all the files. In order to make a copy, you must be on the Customise Template view. There are two methods available for accessing the Template Manager: Customise Template. The Customise Template interface allows for editing the actual code found in the template files, creating template overrides and template file manipulation.

Styles column refers to changing the available parameters of a template, such as color, font-color, logo, etc. These are dependent on the parameters a template maker made available and are a convenience for quick changes. Template - column refers to editing the actual template files.
