Post by lexxicon » Thu Jun 13, am No idea myself, I second your request though as I have the same model and it could definately use an economy boost. While I'm in Canada and I dont think I could legally get rid of the cat I would love to know what I could do to tune the engine myself. I believe an aftermarket exhaust would be of benefit as well however I do not know where and how to find and compare variants.

Supposedly a common issue on these; cant remember where I heard that though. The mod has held up wonderfully so far, I can include pics if you are interested but I dont want to just go go ahead and hijack the thread unnecessarily. Btw, this is my first post so hi to everyone who sees this. He makes tunes software for Volvos that are programmed to make better use of fuel vs. Seems I just need to jack up the car, remove the O2 sensors, and swap out the cat - but am I missing anything?

Post by turbotim2 » Wed Oct 06, pm From the pic, it looks like it can be welded. I have done a lot of welding and could probably get it. The surfacr rust will need to be ground off. I have also replaced a cat on one of my 's, it is pretty easy but be prepared to replace one or both O2 sensors as they particularly the rear weld themselves into the bung. Be sure to buy the gasket for the front and the rear clamp. Be carefull not to buy the FCP rear clamp, it sucks. I got one from Advance that actually worked.

Post by g-volvo » Thu Oct 07, am I had exactly the same problem. I limped it along for quite some time by shoving a 2" cast iron heating pipe in between the two pieces. I've regretted the decision ever since. The Davico rattles like a box of rocks and is completely burned out. In doing some research, and speaking to a couple of volvo techs, the general advice is to replace the cat with a genuine volvo one.
